Transactors Improv Company

Transactors Improv is the oldest active improvisational theater in the South. Our work focuses on emotion, physicality, character, commitment, teamwork, and fun. Our approach to improvisation, based on audience suggestion revolves around discovery rather than invention. Peformances may include music and dance composed and choreographed on the spot!

Transactors Improv performs primarily in theaters, festivals, colleges, and schools in the Southeast, although we have appeared in places as far-flung as Boston, Montreal, Minneapolis, Colorado Springs, and Austin. The company has also been heard on National Public Radio and the Canadian Broadcasting Co.

Transactors Improv also teaches people of all ages in a wide variety of venues, from corporations and colleges to elementary schools and arts camps. Workshops on Applied Improv teach keen awareness, effective communication, teamwork, confidence, creativity and clear thinking.

Members of Transactors Improv have studied individually and collectively with the leading lights of improv, including Groundlings founder Gary Austin, Joe Bill, Del Close, Martin de Maat, Charna Halpern of ImprovOlympic, Annoyance Theater's Mick Napier, Second City, Paul Sills, and Mark Sutton.
