Zak Morgan

Contact Susan@loydartists.com to discuss a three to five day residency with Zak Morgan. Like his show, Zak Morgan’s creative writing residencies use music and storytelling to exercise the imagination and encourage reading. Over the course of four sessions, students learn the basic elements of a good story, create their own story, turn their story into a song, and record their very own music. When time allows, Zak will perform a concert of his music, including the students performing their new work during the show.

We want to welcome GRAMMY nominated children’s songwriter, musician and performer Zak Morgan!

GRAMMY nominee Zak Morgan's unique brand of children's music delivers songs and poems with wit and charm that inspire and tickle the funny bones of children and adults alike. When he is not writing and recording, Zak performs family concerts throughout the country. His live performances are always filled with laughter and warmth as he encourages children to read, imagine and believe in themselves.

Morgan has released five critically acclaimed records and one DVD for children and was nominated for a GRAMMY in 2003 – a rare feat for an independent artist. Morgan currently resides in Cincinnati, OH and continues to tour the country giving concerts and workshops for children and families.

With a background in children’s literature plus a GRAMMY® nomination for his kids’ songs, Zak Morgan brings all of his life experiences and a simple delight in words and music to his live performances. His interactive concerts are warm, full of humorous wordplay, and fun for all ages.

Morgan sounds a bit like singer Cat Stevens, and his storytelling is an inspired cross between Dr. Seuss-style word games and the sly, edginess of Shel Silverstein. In short, it's children's music that adults can love.

Zak’s music is focused on families with children 3 years to 12 years and preschool through older elementary students. Zak’s educational concerts offer two study guides with activities for both music education and arts integration with other subjects. In addition, teachers can access thirteen interactive lessons for classroom use at a variety of grade levels. http://www.zakmorgan.com/classroom/index.html

“He displays a passion for creating music that treats children as intelligent and creative beings capable of relating to, and engaging in, songs that raise the bar in their thinking. His wordplay is wonderful; he approaches each song as a separate musical adventure.” – Chicago Parent
